A meeting of ideas

A meeting of ideas will take place at the Old Post Office, Burslem on the 26th August between 5-7pm.

The aim of the meeting is to build connections and cooperation between people for the benefit of Burslem. You might want to share something you’re already doing, or you might want to find out how much support there is for something new. People will be able to speak for three minutes each and then there will be time for conversations to happen.

If you would like a three minute slot to outline your idea, please leave a comment here or tweet @visitburslem.

All are welcome. Don’t come to bash anyone or weep about the sadness of it all, there aren’t enough hours in the day. If you do want to talk about a campaign idea, you can have a three-minute slot for that as well.

Ideas will be added to the Visit Burslem blog for further development and promotion. If you can’t make the meeting, you are still welcome to submit an idea to the blog.

Bring your energy and ideas (plus cake if you want).

The meeting will include talks and discussion on:
Farmers Market | Walking Tour(s) | The Race Online | Social workspaces | The Tour of Britain coming to Burslem | The Burslem Arts Trail | The North Pole Endurance Race (Duck) | Volunteers Forum & Skills | Parking | The Burslem Port Project | Angels | A Parish Council? | Burslem Park

Rob from the Old Post Office here with a bit of feedback and some more discussion points.

re. The Walking tour – can the local arts exhibitions commit to a Arts lunchtime walking tour?

September 12th. sees the Tour of Britain start in Burslem, A national event with a potentially hgh footfall into the town. How are we going to utilise it?

http://www.teamawnty2012.co.uk have asked me for a spot on the evening to let you know about their mission.

6townsradio is a new radio station that will be based in Burslem for it’s launch in September. They will be at the event to tell us about them selves.

Forgot to mention – Do we start planning the Arts Trail event now for next year?

Any more ideas from anyone else?

Does anyone know someone that might want a 3 minute slot?

    Thanks for the plug Rob…
Hi, I’m Spence and I am part of a team that will be racing to the North Pole in April 2012!
600km unsupported on foot….if you want to know more please come along on the 26th Aug.

This is more about Burslem though isnt it! I live in Madeley but work in Tunstall and go through Burslem on a regular basis…that seems to be the big problem though…everyone goes through there but they dont all stop there.

What can be done to persuade people to stop?

Rob’s Gallery, is a great focal point and the Bike race on the 12 Sept will bring people in but what about after that. There are so many things happening there but we need to shout it all from the rooftops and let everyone know… the ideas need to come from the community and hopefully this will be the case on Thursday night….

See you all there…I’ll be the one dressed as a Duck!

    Cheers

    Spence
